Organ building has long been a family craft, passed on from generation to generation in "old-world" fashion. The W. Zimmer family is no exception to this tradition, having ancestors in organ building and organ playing over a period of more than a century. In the spring of 1964 we moved to America, bringing a wealth of knowledge and exerience with us, gained from our heritage as well as from our training and work in Europe and in South Africa. Realizing the opportunities of our adopted country, we and our families became naturalized citizens in 1969. In 1980 Wilhelm Zimmer retired as President of the firm, leaving his son Ben to carry on. Since coming to America, W. Zimmer and Sons built several hundred organs. Each of our organs is a happy blend of long recognized organ building principles, coupled with modern technology and materials. These are among the finest organs being built today, excelling in tonal and visual design, construction and tonal finishing, as wel as "long term" reliability. These fine instruments - tools for Worship and Musicianship - are the result of closely monitored direction of the organ building process, careful anaysis of the room in which the organ will speak, and the ability to bring all of these factors together in a cohesive manner. All things considered, it is essential to evaluate the possibilities available with a fine W. Zimmer pipe organ. A survey and proposal can be submitted to you without obligation. We urge you to test the W. Zimmer and Sons organ before making your decision. The proof is in the hearing and the playing! |
